My buddies wives gave them a day pass today so we decided to make a trip up to the berry to get in on some fast cutthroat action and maybe pick up a few duckies as well. We got there at the crack of dawn ready to smack them on our fly rods like we do every fall and after four hours we had caught FIVE FISH. What the heck?? changing lures didn’t fix the problem, changing location didn’t work, so we did the only thing any angler worth his salt would do, we got off the lake and had lunch at the lodge! After a good break we went back out and set up for ducks with a bit of success and then picked up our rods for the last hour of light or so. The same scenario played out and we were about froze clear through when I decided to make one more loop in a trusted cove. Nothing. That is, until we were at the very end of our loop when a freight train hit my lucky craft and instantly started stripping line as I frantically tried to shut off the engine. This guy fought like he really didn’t like the idea of being caught and it put a big grin on my face. I’m still grinning in fact 
All in all a decent day, wish I could have figured out what they wanted but that’s why it’s fishing and not catching.

I don’t think anything actually likes eating duck, trout included [;)] I have to make mine into jerky before it’s edible!
Colorful drake Gadwall there. Looks like couple of his finances too. That is a NICE cutt. Maybe it’s time to go freeze to death to see if I can run into a big cutt.
