Strawberry DAV event 2015

Let’s just keep this thread focused on boater volunteer signup for Trevor. Don’t want to make things confusing for Trevor. [;)]

If you have particular questions outside that feel free to shoot me a PM or give me a call.

I’m 95% sure I can do that. I can take one, or two if we’re just vertical jigging. I’m putting it on my calendar.

Uniform… Having the active duty folks in uniform… Be careful here. If memory serves me right, any type of event that has a corporate sponsor could spell trouble for folks in uniform because it gives the appearance of government favoritism towards that company. I’ll look this up when I get home this week. Now if they just wore a unit tee shirt and jeans you would be ok.

However, since there are many active/guard/reserve folks that browse this board… This is an outstanding volunteer activity that will add one huge bullet to your EPR/OPR/AER/etc… We had our guys there every year we were in UT just helping out, taking out trash etc… Very fullfilling and rewarding event.

Looks like I just may be able to be there with my boat! I have been excited about this event since I was out of town for it last year! I was worried I was going to be in California again this year, but I should be home the Monday prior this time!
The only possible road block this year is that I have to be cleared by my neurologist next week before I can operate a vehicle or any machinery…I think I’ll be fine, I’ve been going through withdrawals not being on the water and only bank tangling for the last couple weeks!

Once you get the 100% go ahead shoot me a PM with your info and we’ll get you on the list.

Looking good so far Trevor…

Went up fishing last year and thought a tournament was going on! We got some info about what was going on and took out a vet named Bobby and had a great time. Will he there for sure this year!

Trevor,
I attempted to add my name to the boat roster and it would not save my entry. Please add me to you list of boaters.

Team, we’re about 2 1/2 weeks out and the VA has just over 100 veterans signed up. It looks like we’ve got just over 1/2 of that capacity for boats so far. Please talk to your friends and anyone that has a boat that you think might be interested in helping out with this event. It’s going to be a big one this year.

Hi Trevor, I would like to support you in this good cause. 17’ Crestliner , 1 vet.

As a property owner in the area I spend a lot of time on soldier creek. Parking has become really crowded lately. With the addition of say 50-75 additional trucks and trailers things will get crazy fast. Just a heads up.

This will be the 8th year for this event at Soldier Creek. The last few years we have been working with Glen Hafen who is the manager for American Land and Leisure which is the vendor managing the forest service sites and he has done a fantastic job helping us with a reserved area for parking. That coupled with our people on foot directing our volunteer boaters where to park their rigs have made this a non issue for this event. We’re pretty well organized on the parking side so it shouldn’t be a worry.

And again… Bump:slight_smile:

Looking forward to it.

When I signed up I said I could take 1 vet koke trolling, or 2 otherwise. So you should just change me from 1 vet to 2, and we can just jig or bait fish.

Another thing that’s on my mind is that I mostly launch alone, and that’s not a problem, but I have to tie up the boat at the dock, go park the truck and trailer, and come back to launch the boat. Will there be people at the ramp to park the rigs for us? I would think most of us will be bringing our boats alone.

The DAV boat roster is on my work computer. I will update it on Monday:slight_smile:

That is the way I launch, Last year they held the boat till I got back from parking the truck.
I asked the two vets I had what they wanted to fish for, they said Kokes, we only got 3 kokes fishing was slow. the bus was late coming and I set out in the water from 6am till 8 am waiting
but they had fun, we talked and had some old c&w music on
that they liked.
one asked if he could smoke I said he could but the other Vet said no. so that went good.
Then one pulled out a banana and we did not catch a fish after that. we had fun with that.
