we went to Starvation this morning hoping for safe ice and found about 3 inches in rabbit gulch. It was a little soft at the edges and we only went out past the rock island. There is still open water at the mouth. there was four other groups in the area. We moved around but couldn’t find perch so settled for some rainbows for the smoker. If you go be a little careful, I always send the youngest one out in front of me , he could probably pull himself out but I couldn’t.
We got reports of very thin ice, so we opted out for today. Its a long drive to take the chance. Glad you were safely on the ice and caught some nice rainbows, though!
Thanks for the report. We (brother and I) are planning to head there on Sunday. How much snow/slush did you have to deal with?
As far as snow there was just a little dust, maybe an inch and there is no slush, where we were at. Hope you find the fish.
