Just got some inside information on Sportsmans. They just sold to a Corp out of Canada…Maybe the stores will get some inventory again ![]()
I heard that something might be going on with that outfit.[:/]
Hopefully the Canadians’ track record of running good fishing and hunting outfitter stores will apply here as well. I think it could be a positive thing.
Yayyyyyyyyyyyy, Finally our money will go up north instead of Down South!!!
I went in to Sportsman Wed. to check out the ice fish gear. If you don’t get it early you don’t get any at all. After picking up a few jigs for ice fishing I went over to the gun department to pick up some bullets. The tables that display the ammunition were empty!!! [:/] They had NO .38 or .357 ammo at all along with many other calibers. I asked a clerk if they were not selling ammo any more, what’s going on? He said they were waiting for the truck to arrive. I work in retail and the fastess way to lose customers is to run out of product. I like shopping Sportsmans, but empty shelves makes me want to look somewhere else.
There was a run on guns and ammo after Obama was elected. Sales were up like 30 percent and everything was selling out.
I know what you mean about the empty shelf turnoff.
I haven’t seen a #2 brass Blue Fox in the Provo store for months! Each time I complain, but nothing ever gets stocked.
ya call any of the gun shops in town. They have all been slammed. Guns on KSL have gone up 25% since a few months ago.
Sportmans and Cabelas have been hurting for some time. Cabelas has been trying to buy Sportsmans to stop the bleeding. Curious to see what happens to them now. I know i was in there a couple weeks ago and they had like 10 discount racks set up with all the same stuff?
I was told they were supposed to build 7 new stores and wanted to scrap them all but were too far into 2 of them and thats why they have tons of inventory. Maybe that means some killer deals coming!
I have to wonder if Bass Pro Shops coming to town has any thing to do with it??? If they locate close to the midvale store that will give Sportmans WH a whole bunch of competition. [/b]
Show me some proof of this rumor!
Sportsman’s has had offers but I haven’t seen anything official that they have sold to anyone yet.
Bass Pro has made offers in the past, but I don’t know anything about Cabala’s trying to buy it.
So where is the official word on Sportsman’s Warehouse?
bet that is making curtis hayes just happy as crap. his dad started it way back when. costomer service was #1. and deals… buy 7 flies get 3 free. buy waiders and tube get fins free. things like that they threw in all the time. this is what this guys buisness realy does. he buys small stores and then takes them to moore states. then sells and moves on to another. curt told me that yrs ago.
Looks like we are all going to have to wait and see how this deal plays out. I sure hope it is for the better.
First of all, the low ammo stock has nothing to do with the company and everything to do with the Obama gun mania that is still going on and picking up even more speed.
Gun and ammo sales are up as much as 50%, more for some dealers. “Obama is the greatest gun salesman there is” to quote a guy I heard yesterday. This is because of his horrible voting record on gun rights (you simply cannot get any worse) and talk about us going back to the Clinton era or worse.
From recent experience, Sportsmans and Cabelas shelves are empty or very low on certain calibers, especially .40, 9mm, .223, and 7.62 X 39. At Cabelas they only had two 1000 round ammo cans of 7.62 left, and those things are a couple hundred bucks a piece. Sportsmans was completely out.
Went to Patriot Arms Guns and Repair on Redwood rd. I really like that little place, and its also the only place I could find a good selection of ammo in 7.62 left. I was able to pick some of that up for my AK variant.
In the 20 minutes I was there, I saw hundreds of dollars of ammo, an AK, and a collapsible stock Kel-Tech .223 sold. As I was walking out the door, two more guys came in loooking for M16s. The owner said he is selling the guns as fast as he has been getting them in.
Its a gun frenzy out there!
The gun store “Get Some” has 300 AR-15’s on order and all of them are already sold. I want to go to the gun show this weekend but think it will be Insane!! At least all the fishing gear I love to buy hasn’t jumped in price ![]()
I went into Sportsmens in Midvale to buy fishing line back in Aug. They were out of stock of all the most popular brands and weight. I went back yesterday thinking after a few months that they would get a new shipment. Nope, I was wrong. They still don’t have fishing line after 4 months! What kind of clowns are running that store? But Hey, If you need some 30# big Game mono, They have plenty of that.
You’re right about the line. I check Cabelas or order at Bass Pro Shops online.
I went in 3 times to get size 10-14 treble hooks and zilch. Also, 1/32 oz jig heads gone. Maybe I’ll bag the quest for 4 & 6 lb. excalibur line and go somewhere else. At least they have a good minnow supply.
The Canadians have a much better selection of fishing tackle than our US stores. There are many Canadian tackle companies that our stores don’t sell from. For example, Lucky Strike. They have what I consider to be the best plugs and worm harnesses of anything I have seen or used. You can buy from their website but it is much better to see the real selection for yourself and then make a decision.
Go to any Northern Minnesota, Wisconsin, New York takle store and you will know what I am talking about. I once went to a small town tackle shop in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and their useful fishing lure selection and tackle puts shame on Sportsman’s, Cabela’s, and Bass Pro Shops.
Of all the outdoor stores I have visited, Sportsman’s Warehouse has the poorest selection of anything. I personally like Cabela’s. Depending on which one you go too, they can have some great stuff.
Wow. It’s good to see that people are really showing how much they care about the second amendment by stocking up! Hopefully these same people will also be more involved in speaking out publicly about their views, educating people with REAL gun facts, and making their mark on legislation.
iwent to sportsman for the hamburger bags as you grind they fill had 4 elk to cut up,they wanted 8 bucks for 25 found them at cabelas for 8 bucks for a hundred went and bought 4 hundred bags woorth the drive even from.north ut.asked sportsman to match cabalas price they told me to stick it.
