One of the ways you can “personalize” all of your posts is by adding a “signature” to your defaults. In other words, your signature will appear at the end of all your posts, replies and PMs without having to write it in each time.
REGULAR SIGNATURE:
****You can add a “plain vanilla” signature, using standard font size, color and style, by following these steps:
[ol]- Click on “Forum Settings”, in the light blue menu bar. This will bring up your personal profile page.- Find the “Signature” box…the third one down from your username.- Put the pointer inside the box and click to locate the cursor.- **Begin typing your signature. **- There is no editing toolbar so you cannot change the size, style or color of the font in this mode. Look ahead to “Custom Signatures” if you want something different.- When finished, click on “Save Forum Settings” at the lower right corner of the page.- **Bring up one of your previous posts to check how your new signature looks. **- Start with #1 if you wish to delete or edit your signature.[/ol]CUSTOM SIGNATURE:
****Setting up a signature with different fonts, colors, etc. requires some extra steps. For BFTers without Microsoft Notepad, or a lot of HTML experience, here is the simplest method.
[ol]- First, set up a PM to yourself. Click on “Private Messages” and when the PM screen come up, click on “Compose Message” and then enter your BFT username in the window for “Recipient”.- Using the Advanced Editor toolbar, choose the size, style and color of the letters you want to use for your signature. You might play around with this first in a Word document, until you get what you want. Note, the shorter and simpler the better.- **When you are finished, and before you click the send button, click on “Switch to Basic Editor”. **- This will bring up a bunch of computer language that is the code for the signature you have created.- Highlight all the letters and symbols, and right click to bring up a menu. Click “Copy”.- Now, complete steps 1 – 3 for “Regular Signatures”…to put your cursor in the signature box.- Right click for the menu and then click on “Paste”…to put the code for your signature into the box. It should be loaded and ready to post.- Click on “Save Forum Messages” and bring up a previous post to check results.[/ol]NOTE: There is no need to complete the sending of the message in order to capture the custom text.
