Q. What are the little fishy icons under user names?
A. These symbols change as you add more posts, over time. CLICK HERE for a list of the different symbols and what they mean.
Q. Can I change my user name?
A. Yes, but it means that you have to reregister with the new name. You cannot just change names whenever you want a new identity. And, you will start over in terms of number of posts.
Q. How do I change my profile?
A. Click on “Forum Settings” to bring up your profile page. Edit, add or delete whatever you want to change and then click on “Save Forum Settings” CLICK HERE

Q. How can I put the same post on more than one forum?
A. Make your post on one forum. Then, highlight all the text and pictures and click on “COPY”. Open a new thread in the second forum and right click inside the text area. Click on “PASTE” and your first post will appear in the second forum. Repeat for other forums.
Q. How do I reply to a post?

Q. How do I use the “Quote” function?
A. Click on the “Quote” button instead of the “Reply” button. Just be sure that it is in the post to which you want to reply. Your open message window will come up, for you to compose your reply, and it will contain the quote and the name of the original poster.
NOTE: If the post is very long, you may wish to just highlight, copy and paste the part of the post that you want to respond to…rather than quoting the whole post.
Q. How do I use spellchecker?
A. At any point during the composition of a new post, reply or PM, you can click on the “Check Spelling” box at the lower right of the page. Any misspelled words will appear in red. When you click on a word in red, you will get a menu of suggested spellings. Choose the one that looks right and click on it. It will change to blue. When you have corrected all of the words in your post, click on “Resume Post”…double check everything…and then click on the button to post your message.

Q. How do I add an “avatar” picture to my posts?

Q. How do I crop or resize pictures?
A. Your avatar pictures will be automatically sized to fit. However, if you want to put pictures inside of your post…either with the “Inline” function, or by copy and paste, you will have to resize them. They can be no larger than 450 pixels wide. Use the photo software you got with your camera or with your computer. There are several other photo manipulation programs available too. Spend some time learning to enhance your pictures and to crop out the unwanted portions to make for better pictures.

A. PM stands for “Private Message”. It works like email, to send messages to other BFT members.

Q. How do I find all the forums?
A. Every BFT page has a dark blue menu bar with white letters. One of the menu items is “Fishing Forums”. If you place the pointer over that item, there will be a drop down menu for the different state forums. Click on whatever state forum you want to review. If you click on the white letters of “Fishing Forums” you will get a “Main Index” page, with all of the BFT boards listed. You simply click on the ones you wish to visit.
Q. How do I find my favorite forums faster?
A. Bookmark them or add them to your “Favorites”. Another option is to create a desktop “shortcut”. While you have your favorite forum open, right click to bring up a menu. Click on
Create Shortcut. The icon will appear on your computer screen. Drag and drop to a convenient location and change the name if you wish.
Q. How can I increase the size of the print…for easier reading?
A. Depending upon your computer operating system and other factors, there are a couple of ways to increase the size of the text if it is too small on your screen. First, while holding down the “Ctrl” key press the “+” key to increase the size. Second, if you have a mouse with a wheel on it, you can hold down the “Ctrl” key while rolling the wheel forward. Third, many of the newer Windows programs will have a “Zoom” window at the lower right of your screen. It will display “100%”. You can click on the menu and then choose the size you want to be able to read a website easier.
Q. Why all the ads on BFT?
A. BFT is a “free” site, with no charges to the members. But, it is not free to keep on the internet and to provide all of the valuable information and services offered. The money to keep us online comes from the sale of advertising, to companies who want to reach our members.
