Went around in the valley for a while and I decided to go fishing for the rest of the day. While gas is burning in my car and saratoga springs is burning land i hope they get it settled down soon V_V. I decided first to go to kidney pond once again nothing there no love after noon up there sadly plus wind was terrible up there so i decided to go to my secret spot caught 2 bass and 1 blue gill or green sun fish. Does anyone know if its a green sun fish or bluegill so confusing >_<. After a few hrs later had nothing because of the wind it was so windy ehhhhh, left secret spot and went to riverton pond for once in my life on my way home. Droped there for 1 hr caught 1 nice 12 in bow. There are many crawdads up there in that pond I caught 2 to use bait but nothing on them just fish nibble the body off. Before I left i walked around tons of crawdads next to dead catfish that people left in the pond. Dumb Poachers, I hate who ever poach fishes for fun. As well there a lot of little fry fish close to shore jumping at nice first time seeing a pond with little fry fish.
Definitely a green sunfish.
That’s what I keep thinking because there really light an have a way bigger mouth them blue gills. I just hope the wind won’t be bad next week I want catch tons of them not just 1or2 of then. Every time I went there is wind it’s like a curse.
You can tell a green sunfish by the size of the mouth ( larger than a bluegills), The stripes on its face, and the shape of the body ( more the shape of a bass not round like a gill).

Sunfish seem to be longer, not at short/tall as gills. You don’t get that orange belly. The big gill spot vs those light blue stripes under the eye. Also the sunfish seem to have more of a longitudinal striping, vs the vertical stripes more common on bluegill.
I seem to find a lot of little sunfish, not much for a bigger generation. Too bad - they’re some tasty panfish. Fun to play with.
Hey - suggestion - stop calling your Spot “Secret” - draws lurkers like flies to sha-doo-doo.
thanks for the report yo. Ya that fire is directly behind my house on the mountains in eagle mountain. More than a thousand houses around me have been evacuated for 48 hours. Thanks for the report. Wha tpuzzles me is mon-thu you have the perfect weather but as soon as fri and sat come around it gets super windy.
