We’re taking some scouts up to Scolfield friday afternoon to Saturday. Wondering how much snow and slush are on the ice, if we can get a fourwheeler out on it any more. Any recent reports would be nice too.
I was there Saturday morning. Got there at 7:30 it was -5. There was around 24 inches of ice with about 8 inches of snow on top. No slush. Left around 12:30. Saw fish on the finder and on a camera on and off all day but could only get a few bites and three on the ice.
Hope this helps.
I was there on Monday after the storms over the weekend the snow was up to about 2 feet deep on top of the ice. I saw a bunch of snowmobiles and some 4 wheelers. I had the same experience as Dr. Lumber. Tons of bites but only got 3 fish on the ice. I could actually see cutts swimming below my hole must of been less than 5 feet deep. I could get them to go after my jig but they would just bump it they wouldn’t put it in there mouth.
Fished the dam arm Saturday. Punched several holes, but never found many fish. No slush. Water did come out of the holes a little. Saw snowmobiles on the ice. Shouldn’t be a problem for the scouts. I thinking about going back up Sat. morning. I’ll probably head back over to the west side.
Thanks for the updates. We’ll just stick with the snowmobile & wade through the snow. Should be an adventure for the boys even if we don’t catch many fish.
Like I said I saw a ton of fish just couldn’t get them to bite anything I tried. I was in 25 feet of water straight out from the boat ramp. I tried a lot of different lures but not much interest. This was my first time at scofield since I was young. Does anyone have any lure/bait advice? I’m thinking of heading back this weekend.
