Hit the res. bout 10:30 sat. night. Figured to avoid the crowd pressure and get the itch off by burnin the midnight oil. Was in no hurry to get the poor mans cabin set up as night fishin usually tends to be slow till it gets closer to a.m. for me. Surprised to find fish on the first drop when just trying to get my butt in the in the lawn chair and crack a cold one. For bout 30 min. action on. I use jingle bells on my spring bobbers case I dose off. It was sure soundin festive!
Finally slowed and I landed in the seat w/ everything all set up and proceeded to b.s. w/ new fishin bud and cookin totinos on the Mr. Heater. Fish would come by in small schools and give action once about every hour until bout 2 a.m.. Then it slowed way down til bout 6 a.m. After that it was typical, group would swim thru, catch a few, wait a bit, then do it all over again til bout 10 a.m., then it was slow and go w/ weary groups of fish and U might get one or two here and there. We fished in our sleep from then on til bout 3:30.
Every fish was a carbon copy of the other give or take. I had my fish camera on and finally I started jerkin my rig to avoid the pesky lil’ guys. Never caught a one w/ any size at all, and only saw one 18" tiger on camera and he butted into my offering w/ the side of his cheek and kept on swimmin. We used pretty much everything, w/ the top producers being Ice Cutters at night, and ice fly tipped waxie in day.
All in all a beautiful night out, and catching fish a bonus, even tho no big bonuses.
