Ponds in the valley

Has anyone been to any of the ponds in the valley? Like Willow, Midas or Kidney? I want to take my son on Monday morning. If anyone has and knows what is working please let me know, thanks

if they are iced over they are closed for the winter…

Kidney from my experience isn’t worth it. Bountiful is a great place, especially near the center. If you want action go between the islands (if safe), and use shrimp, then hang on because there’s some good cats in there. If you want trout (they’re mainly small fries), green power bait, 2-6 lb line, and about 12-18" under the bobber.

As previously stated, if they’re iced over they’re closed

Just looked at the Community Fisheries pamphlet, and the only thing that I can see is the Cove at Herriman Springs Pond says no ice fishing. No other reference to closures due to ice.

i know willow is closed by the city… but bountiful pond is open all year.

Sandy Pond report: I was testing my MarCum LX-9 ice fishing finder there Saturday. Water temperature at six feet was 40 degrees where the bluegill suspend in front of the camera and only barely move when bumped in the head with the lure. Go after trout by casting lures, but I wasn’t casting – just testing equipment to be ready for ice fishing and with this, I’ll hunt the fish, see where they are, what structure they like, depths they suspend, how they behave and what tempts them to eat dinner.

A regular fisherman there says Sandy Pond won’t freeze because it’s fed by springs. It’s a nice place to fish. I use it for practicing techniques and casts with different rod actions and lure weights and lines. I learned to swim large swim baits to go up, down, left or right there to be able to fish weeds and rocks at the reservoirs and make my real fishing trips productive by catching big fish.

I think Fishrmn is correct.
