Pineview

I fished Pineview yesterday and the ice is still 12inches thick. An inch or two of slush and water but still good ice. Fishin’ was slow only caught 5 crappie and a perch.

Anyone else having any luck out there?

were u up there at dark or before and u said you went through the ice a couple of times??? holes or fell broke through???

I was up fishing from 2 til 630 pm ish. I actually just got back today and fell through two more holes that were covered with snow! Those landmines are creepy. The ice is really thick. Hopefully the hidden holes will freeze up solid. Fishin was slow again marked a lot but not many takers.

I’ve been hoping for some good reports from PV. I haven’t tried it yet this year and would like to. But one thing I’d like to ask as well is why there are so many in the same spots (especially if it’s slow)? Is the issue accessibility/private property?

I’ve only fished the narrows, and would like to try other areas in the future. Here is a map with markings, if anyone has any suggestions of where I might try - I’d love to hear 'em. And thanks.

PS: Speaking of ice conditions, I went out to Yuba yesterday with a total newbie who was scared of the ice. The edges cracked as we got on, and I walked confidently from there, but 20 yards further my foot went in a hole and went clear to my thigh. Thought my buddy was going to have a heart attack! And I was a bit startled too at first. [;)]

But, after getting skunked in my “regular” area - I limited in an hour - and in a spot that I’ve NEVER seen another soul fish before. Before I did that at Pineview, I though I’d ask first.[angelic]

On suggestions, PM me if you prefer.

thanks

:sunglasses:There’s been a couple of reports the last week or two where the perch fishing was good off Cemetary Point in about 40 feet deep. Good luck…

Yuba ice was ok? The hole was a drilled hole or you found a soft spot?

Gracias in advance

I sent a PM, but then thought others would like to know, my foot went thru a hole someone drilled that was covered with snow.

By the end of the day, the cold temps had the ice/slush pretty frozen where we were.

There is NO private property on Pineview except the small area where the rich people keep their boats in the summer. It is known as the Yacht Club. It is slow unless you move around and find active fish. The reason there are so many people packed together is those are the areas the panfish have migrated to to winter. Generally shallow water(under15’) and deep water (over 60’) don’t hold many fish this time of year. They have started moving back to the shallower areas though.
We fished it tonight and moved after not getting more than a 4" perch and 2 bites in a “likely” spot. We moved too late to put a hurt on the crappies but we finally found them in time to get a few. One of the bigger ones was 13 3/4". I will be back friday or early saturday for a re-match.:sunglasses:
