Pineview 5-16

My friend and I planned to cut out of work early Friday morning, but ended up not getting on the water until about 2:00 after getting trapped at work and a short in my Tracker’s starter battery.

The water where we fished ranged from 59-64 degrees (surface). Only fished around three hours and only one bite - my buddy got a smallie a little over 18" on a Rapala. We didn’t weigh it.

I’ve trying to convince him that warm water fishing beats slimers any day. This was only the second smallie he has ever caught and I think I have made a convert from the dark side.

Sounds like a nice bass, too bad the catching wasn’t better. Did you try for any crappie? WH2

We were out there too in the jet boat. It was slow. I got a smally on the first cast. you know how that goes. Then slow… Got a carp. A smaller tiger musky. I think the fish need sun and warm water.

Tuna Hooker and I were up there too on Friday and found the fishing tough as well. We fished the north end, and the wind was cranking pretty good. He caught three nice smallies for the day on a spinner bait. I recorded my first PV skunk ever, although I did have three hook ups including one that had some size to it. Kind of disappointing, but thats fishing [unimpressed] Fred K.

My friend jigged the trees a little without any success. The effort was only half-hearted. I think the water is still a little cold. About another week of warm weather should do it.
