Well after hearing my grandma complain about waisting a lot of the fish, I finally gave in and listened to her advice. She said to go ahead and eat the egg sack just like the fish meat. So, I dipped them into the egg batter and then into the seasoned bread crumbs and fried them up!
I couldn’t believe it. They were really great. Just make sure that you cook them all the way through.
My Grandma escaped from Germany during the war. She would wait in line for hours for one harring. They ate that whole fish and used what was left to make a soup.
Living in Mich. for many years gave me the Opportunity to fish the perch run off the great lakes.. We would catch hundreds of perch a day.. No limit on perch at the time.. Anyways my aunt would cook the eggs for us all the time.. I think they tasted GREAT.. I cant remember how she cooked them.. I will have to call her and ask..
Well, that’s something that I’ve never tried. I’m all up for trying new things, so I guess a perch trip is in order. I have always saved the sacks and used them for catfish bait, but cutbait usually works better anyway.

Honestly they really do taste good the only part I dont like is the texture..the eggs just go all over your mouth which just feels weird.

I was thinking about trying the eggs untill you said that.[unsure] I think my gag reflex would kick in as soon asdfkjdf sorry, dry heave, as soon as one squirted in my mouth.
lmao…I have that reaction when I watch fear factor. Someone made me try those perch eggs once and never again for me…i’ll stick with the fillet. They were fishier and nastier than a wiper’s black stripe. Sorry to those who love it but ewww. lol
Don’t knock it till ya try it. Just cook them till they are a solid and as for the texture I really didn’t even notice. I am a wusss when it comes to stuff like this, so if I can handle it and say it’s tasty then I would guess most others would think so too.
