What’s your price? I’d sell Utah for $500-$1000, and Idaho for $3000. Montana or Wyoming for $5000, but not both.

You’ve got to be kidding me! I’ve had this debate before. Probably at least 10million not fishing. Utah alone 500k. That’s going cheap. If I couldn’t fish I would just slowly degrade and not know what to do…
I know you shouldn’t bite the hand that feeds you “I work for the Federal Government” but this is completely ridicules. A nation that doesn’t have a pot to pi$$ in, is just tossing money into the wind. What a shame, what a shame, what a shame!!!
Remember, the payoff is for ONE state. Mass. is the only state in the article. I would not sell my license to fish everywhere for any price, but I’d sell out to one for enough funds to pay for my trips to fish in another. You bet!
Wow… This is such very wasteful use of time and government resources… I can hear it now… “lets sell the people licenses to fish, while at the same time, pay them when they don’t want to do what they have the choice to do already.”
Reminds me of the program of paying a farmer to grow crops that the government can then destroy. Makes no sense to me.
Just my opinion…
Since work cuts into my travel time, I’d have to hold out for about $4-5000 from Utah. But that amount would be enough to fund some nice road trips to satisfy the fishing itch.
I have been wanting to spend more time fishing in Idaho, so I would take Utah out of fishing for one year for $1,000 . I would then just buy a full year fishing license in Idaho and be forced to fish there more, not so bad the way I see it. I am not that far away from Idaho anyways.
Most people seem to be dramatic about this whole thing, like they wouldn’t take half a million to stop fishing in the state they live in for one year [crazy]? With that kind of money you could spend the next year fishing anywhere in the world for free. Really, you wouldn’t take a million to 500k?
Just how many ways can one government find to waste tax payer’s money? Sometimes I think the government has nothing to do with their time and a never ending sorce to do it with.
What better way to find out what something is worth so that they can put a price on it.
How long before they use the results to start charging more money for it when they find out how much it would be worth to most people?

Bassrods I didn’t even buy my trout tag on my yearly fishing license I renewed today.. lol.
Paid to not fish? 10 million bucks if I was assured that the economy would never crash and I could buy fish at the market the rest of my life, (tongue in cheek).
There is no amount of money to keep me from fishing. When/If it all falls apart my family and friends won’t go hungry for sure. I catch fish and I’m good at it. I also love it when ya feel that strike and set the hook. Haven’t found any drug or even naked woman that can give me that RUSH.
