Fished Newton on thurs the 4th (sorry a little late on the post). The perch action was hot. I got there at sun-up and fished mid lake (going south to north). I also fished near the dam with slower, but still reasonable success. The fish were all small, but the bite was crazy, as fast as you could get the lure down to the bottom for pretty much the whole day. I was fishing with a swedish pimple trailed by a marabou jig. However I tried other jigs too and they didn’t seem to have a preference. 15 to 25 feet of water, deeper than that I didn’t get bites. Bait was not necessary. I got tired of the little guys after a while and decided to try for something bigger, I fished the deeper water near where I was catching all the perch for several hours with a large plastic minnow baited with a chunk of perch with not a bite. I know there are bass and Tiger muskie in there. What would you guys suggest? Where at in the lake? What setup? Any advise would be great.
