Newton 6/21 and girls! Not those girls!

Went to Newton today with my two little girls. They are 3 and a little over 1 years of age. We only stayed for about 30 minutes but it was a fun thirty minutes. We took the curve around the lake a literary saw the entire lake filled with tents and campers. I have never seen so many boats on the lake. I stopped counting at 20 and not a one was a fishing boat.
We decided to bank fish in the shade. Within a minute I had on a 30+ muskie on that bit a chartruese panfish assassin. My two little girls did not know what to think. My little one pointed and said something in a language she only knows. My oldest just stood there half dazzed not ever seeing a muskie before. It was a blast. We caught a few crappie and I let the girls reel them in. My little one loved squeezing and poking the poor little crappie. After the action slowed and the ants getting into the sandals, we headed for home. I guess the 12 dollars in gas was worth it to get out there. I can’t wait till they get bigger.

That’s awesome. I’m heading up there tomorrow. Taking my little ten foot aluminum boat. I’ve been fishing in the trees on the west side. Caught a lot of baby crappie, a couple fairly decent gills, bunch’s of six inch Perch and a few small Largemouth. This time. I’m after tigers.
Most of the folks I’ve talked to, say there aren’t any big crappie anymore. Bummer.
I go there and fish while I cook dinner every night after work. It beats sitting in a motel room and eating out.
Any advice on good places to catch a big fish?

Wow! Too bad about all the boaters. But i would LOVE to catch a tiger musky! You’ll have to show me how it’s done.

[indent]Fish the points in the first main cove that runs north and south. This is also where I have caught a 5 lb LMB. I literally have caught muskie everywhere on that lake. I find them kind of annoying. I catch most of mine on crappie jigs with a 12 ft cane pole. That is a ride. As for decent and recent bass, I fished one spot meaning a 3ft area and landed 2 bass over 3 lbs and 5 other small bass. Some bass are on beds shallow and others are holding deeper in about 10-15 ft of water. Try using a 2 inch imitation crawfish. Good Luck!

Good luck in a 10’ boat with all the water skiers[frown]!!

Hey LordCrappie,

I want to go out with you and catch all the tigers I can get my line on. You mentioned that they are a bit annoying, but thats what I would want to catch out there. I am more a catch and release fella so for me its all about the fight and the bigger the better.

However I have never fished for or caught any crappie or bass so anytime you have room or I can get you to remember and call me I would love to go with you and I will even pick up the $12 bucks in gas.

Give me a buzz dude!

Check out this Musker my Ma-in-law caught on sunday at the Newt…41.5"!!!

Watch out Pineview! You have some competition! Just thinking, last year when the water was going down pretty fast, I saw many dead decaying muskies on the banks. With the stress of catch and release the muskies death rate must be high and will eventually die off completely.

So what are you saying crappie, that you don’t want to take me with you to fish the muskies out there or what?

Alright FisherMan20+9 =29, I’ll take you fishing. There is one catch. My little truck will be sold on Thursday and my little boat will not fit in the new van. My wife would kill me. If you can now find a truck to slide it in…Game on!

Game on then Bra!

A truck is no problem, just let me know when works best so I can make sure I can have it available. If you wont have a truck what the heck are you going to do with the boat? It would be pretty rad to get a hitch on that new mini van and trailer that boat behind it, you would be rockin it.

Later man
