Good evening all;
I am fairly new to UT. My name is James but all my friend call me Jimmy. I was transfered here with the USAF from North Dakota. I gotta tell you guys I am really missing ND right now. All my buddies back there are already driving their full sized trucks and SUVs out on the ice for fishing.
Ice fishing is a BIG deal for my family (wife, 5yo daughter, and 3yo son). I am looking forward to getting out as soon as possible, but I think it will be a few weeks or more before I can get out. With having the kids and all the gear that they need to keep their attention and keep them compfterable, I bought a snowmobile to pull my Clam Voyagour out onto the ice. So I need to wait until the ice is thick enought for that.
Anyway, I am sure I will see some of you on the ice from time to time. I have my screen name (jplacquay) written right on my ice house so if you see me out there please feel free to stop by for a cup of coffee, pop, hot chocolate, or just to shoot the breeze.
Welcome to the site Jimmy, and welcome to Utah.
Hope everything works out for you and your family,
Great state to live in, We also have great fishing also,
PS. Don’t drive out on the ice with your truck,
The ice here is not strong enough for that
ATV and Snowmobiles thats all.
Good luck [;)]
Welcome to Utah, if you came from Minot this will probably seem like the Banana Belt to you. Shoot me a PM and I will try and give you some of the poop on the area as far as fishing. Being brought up in Northern Wis. I also enjoy the hard water and ice fishing, it wasn’t a very popular sport when I first got stationed here and only certain lakes were open to ice fish in the mid 70’s.[fishin]
Welcome to Utan & BFT.. I know all to well about driving vehicles on the ice.. I lived many yrs in Mich.. We would all get together and drive out nice warm trucks out and fish.. After a long day it was only a quick trip back to shore.. But we cant do that here.. [:/] We do have a lot of GOOD year round fishing here..
Have fun fishing. Hope to see you on the ice..

First off I would like to thank you for your service to our country, it is greatly appreciated!
Utah is a great state (almost as good as Wyoming[:p]) and I am sure you will come to like it. There are plenty of fishing and outdoor opportunities on Public land not only in Utah but the surrounding states. I hope you can enjoy your time in our neck of the woods.
Schofield Reservoir sounds good, the only problem is that is it south of SLC and I am up in Roy. I reall didn’t want to drive that far, but I guess if thats what I need to do then, thats what I need to do. Thanks for the heads up though.
