Just got to the forums, but glad for all the good information. I went to Navajo lake near Cedar two days ago. After hiking in I caught my first splake ever using a gitzit tipped with a mealworm. The road was completely snowed over. About 5 inches of ice and slow fishing. Hopefully Panguitch freezes soon.
Welcome to BFT and thanks for posting. Don’t get many reports from Navajo Lake.
Welcome to the site Karl. Good going on the splake. If you live down in that area, have you ever fished Newcastle Res?

Welcome and thanks for the report.
Yeah I went to Newcastle about a week ago, caught 8 rainbows. All were about 14 inches nice healthy fish. I tried rapalas and jakes but the only thing I was catching them on was power bait. My guess is that the ice has started to form by now.
Welcome to the site. Nice report thanks!

Nice, have you ever caught and wipers there?
I’ve tried a few times with minnows, but I’ve never caught any. I did slay the small mouth bass there during the fall. I even actually pulled out my fly rod and caught a few smallmouth on dry flies.
Sounds like fun, one of the flies that many fly fishers use at Willard is a white streamer, I think they are called Zonkers[:/].
Welcome to the site. Give us some posts on Minersville too, if you get there. I love that lake!
Minersville is definitely an awesome reservoir! I went there about 2 weeks ago. I only caught 2, but both were about 21-22 inch rainbows with deep red. Amazing fish, I’ll attach a picture of a smaller one I caught there the week before that.
when I was a kid the only fish in minersville was Carp, when the water was low you could almost walk across the res. on top of them.
