went up again today to hit them splake.. got there, walked out to the spot.. we were on the ice by sun up.. good thing to it was cold this morning there..
well after missing 2 or 3 hitt’s i poped a 22" splake.. was feeling good about that one.. droped back down about 30 min’s later i was jigging my jig and i droped the pole down but my line stayed up set the hook.. then the fight was on!! after 20 min’s of fighting this toad and 4 try’s to get my hands on it to pull it out the hole my buddy finley got his hands on it and got it out! was a 27" close to 8 lbs splake!! that will be the new Ut state record C/R splake!! i hope ..
i guess we should have just packed it up after that tho.. the rest of the day was just bitty ones.. stayed a good bite tell about 1 pm. and slowed way down.. packed it up around 4:30 and headed home! we could not of asked for better wether, and no wind just a great day to be on the ice!
he was very much alive when it whent back down the hole!! [sly].. he just fliped over before i took the pic.. and it was very cold so the snow stuck a little.. but he was glad to be back and took right off!
yeah it looks a little icey. but was only out of the water for 3 pic’s a total of maybe 1 min. top’s.. it was still strong and after 3 or 4 pumps in the water swam right out of my hand..
