Mantua This Morning

We took the 2year old son fishing at Mantua this morning. Got there about 9, fishing from shore. Put the little one’s pole in the water and 2 minutes later, he had a small blue gill. He was so excited! He caught 2 today, my husband got a few bluegill, and a 16" rainbow, I caught a few bluegill and the BIGGEST perch ever! About 3 inches long! Got rained away, but we had a great time. Thanks for the help TubeDude.

Sounds like a great outing – any pictures?

:sunglasses:**Happy to help and glad the little one kotched a fishy. Great way to get him started. He may not remember much about this specific trip in the future but at least he is forming a positive impression of fishing and being outdoors. Hope you took some pictures to show him in later years. **

**It is good that you found the place and got a feel for the lake. Next time you will know more about what to expect and will probably be a bit better prepared. The fishing along the shoreline will remain good until it really cools off and sends the fish out into deeper water. That can be a different time every year. **

Thanks for reporting on your success. And, even though your fish were not state records, we would enjoy seeing any pics you care to post. Most of us are family folks and enjoy seeing the kids and their fish.

TubeDude is a very valuable source for fishing and loves to help. As are most of the people on this forum.
Glad you had a fun day it is great to watch kids and grandkids catch fish.

Mantua is a great place to fish. I’m lucky enough to live 5 minutes away and Its a lot of fun to be able to run up late and fish for and hour or two. I see a lot of kids out-fish there parents LOL! Its a great place to take first timers.

We keep thinking about taking the grand daughter up there but never have, usually end up at Willard.

He didn’t care how big they were, he was just excited to see fish. We’ll definetly have to go again, it’s not too far away, and fun for the kiddos. I edited the post and posted 2 pictures. I’ll admit I’m a fair weather fisherman. Don’t do rain  we’ll have to go when it’s not so stormy. Thanks again.

Glad to hear the fishing was good, I may go with a buddy later on tonight
