Docks have been pulled. Hard to find deeper water with the thin ice. Couldn’t venture too far off shore. More of a quantity than quality kind of day.
I hope I haven’t influenced anyone to risk their lives over silly fish. Theoretically 1-1/4” of ice will hold a 175 lb person, but with very little safety factor so any variability in ice thickness could make a really bad day. This is like riding in an experimental aircraft with near zero safety factor. Most stuff has a 3 or 5 to 1 safety factor. So please wait for at least a 3 to 1 safety factor and check frequently to know you’re still good as you go. Later today or tomorrow there should be at least 3”. Later J

You were reading my mind with that post. I checked my irrigation pond tonight, it capped the same night as Mantua and it was only two hits with the spud thick and really cracking on me. So if Mantua isn’t any better than that, I may not go out into water over chest deep. I was hoping for more ice than that, it’s stayed pretty cold all week. Sooooo I’m hoping someone chimes in with a report, I’m sure it got fished today. See you in the morning. J
