Just got back from checking Mantua and it is about 90% froze. No snow on it. Clear blue ice. If temps stay low it could be fishable by Saturday. 
Thin ice + Underwater Springs = Dangerous.
Not this weekend, no thanks.

I’m looking for the report that says - " we walked out, drilled a hole, and the ice was THIS thick" fingers spread WIDE.
I appreciated the report from Kentofnslwith the ice-cautions. Something new to me, and lots that makes sense. Rope - cleats - ice picks.
Been Xcountry enough to learn of the hazards, prep for winter outings.
Falling in - another level of excitement. Thing I learned at the clinic was to just chill if you do - word was you have like 15 mins before hypothermia would set in. So - be calm, and work at getting out - don’t panic. Hope not to ever have to practice such a notion!
