Latest info on Strawberry?

I have x-mas off this weekend and was hoping to hit the berry friday or sat. I was wondering if the ice was thick enough to get on at the strawberry bay marina.

Strawberry bay marina was mostly open water yesterday. The back of one of the bays had ice and one group was out there fishing.
For the most part, I would say it is way to thin to be out on.
The temp was 3 degrees yesterday morning, so one would think the ice should build fairly quickly if the wind would quit for a while.

Call the marina before you go and they should be able to tell you more.

I ended up trying to fish Mud Creek yesterday. Trying being the key word. Ice was too thin (for me at least) to go very far out. There were about four tents out. My group managed to get out into about 13 feet of water where we had one bite. Didn’t stay too long. Ice was better for us away from where it had been walked over. Some areas had a little slush and some had quite a bit of snow on top. One guy out further said he had two inches which was too thin for us but we managed to find slightly better ice. The best area we found had maybe around 3 to 4 inches of clear ice with about a foot of snow on top. Sounded like some guys in the tents were getting some fish. Spent the prime fishing time trying to find an area we would feel comfortable on. Wind was blowing pretty well too.

Thanks for the info…I guess I will have to find some other lake to fish or hold off til jan. I find it hard to hold off though…But on the other hand I hate to drive by myself 2-3 hours to a lake and fish alone…

Thanks guys

There is always huntington and scofield. I am off for 4 days starting next thursday me and a fellow bftr are going to be ice fishing somewhere some of those days if the weather behaves a bit. I would rather be on safe ice catching fish than be on thin ice wondering if its going to break and me fall in. You are welcome to join us if we end up going .
