I’ve never caught a Koke at Strawberry, any suggestions?
Probably can’t go for 2 weeks, will it still be good timing?
Best locations? I do have a down rigger and fish finder, and a boat (I assumed you assumed that). Help please.
Try dodgers and squids in the Soldier Creek side.
The squid should be no more than 9" behind a small dodger.
Use the finder to locate the fish and drop down to them or even a few feet above them.
Try speeds of between 1.4 and 1.8 mph.
So do you have to go over to the soldier creek side for the Koke’s or can they be caught on the Berry side as well? I’ll be up on Wed morning trying out my new downrigger. Guess I need to get a new pink dodger and some pink bling bling to follow…
I hear if you draw a line from the marina to haws point and then over to the island and back to the marina you can find some. I have always had better luck on the soldier creek side. On a side note I get skunked more than I actually have trips where I catch kokanee.
I have tried that triangle before and did pick up a few nice sized Kokanee but found more of them in the deep water just inside the Soldier Creek side.
Which island are you referring to? We will be there tomorrow morning too fishing for kokes for the first time. I just put a downrigger on my boat and have all the koke gear. The plan was to hit the strawberry side from 5:30-8 a.m. and then the SC side from 8:30-11 a.m. I am trying to figure out the triangle on the Strawberry side. Thanks.
The island is the one straight out from Renagade, if you launch there and go straight for mile plus or minus, you will run right into it. It is a big island[;)].
