Are the SMB hitting at the nelle? all i have is a one seater pontoon with a trolling motor, nothing fancy. any recomendations where i could launch and possibly get into some fish. Any advice would be much appreciated thanks.
I imagine the river is still dumping in chocolate milk but we caught a couple not too far from the river up against the bank. Near the pwc ramp there is some good structure to fish, you can launch a toon there. It’s been a bit crazy with the rising water but things should be a bit more consistent now, maybe even a topwater bite.
Thanks John, I will check it out.
No Top water bite yet! Tried a couple of times this week first thing in the morning. It seems like all the chubs spawning pushed the smallies to a little deeper water right now is what I found. Even caught a few chubs on some crank baits. I have not pulled any small mouths over 14 inchs everything is on the small size right now. The river is dumping in and most of the arm is dirty watch out for all the depri in the water its nasty. Good Luck!
Bluefox2 - I went out on Sat, July 2. Got to the lake a little later than I wanted to. Fished the north end first…off and on clear and cloudy water. First throw with a jerkbait had a 2lber follow and hand around at the boat. Every twitch of the bait the fish would bump into the bait, then cautiously back off only to repeat the process. Couldn’t believe he stayed that close to the boat for that long. Finally caught a couple in the Rockcliff arm on tubes. Thought for sure I would catch more on crankbaits. Even caught a 2lb rainbow on a perch crank bait. I was fishing with my 10 year old daughter and my sister so I didnt bother with drop shot or other finesse, but probably should have.
It’s been a while since I have fished Jordanelle and now I know why. Way too many boats for my taste. Worth the extra time and gas money to hit Pelican, which I have 5 times this year.
Water temps were still only 61-63, so still not quite the best conditions yet. May try and hit it again in August when the water finally warms up. Had most of my hits and action in Rockcliff so stay launch there. Was not there long enough to really establish a pattern but dark colored plastics worked for me.

The bass are biting, the lake is full and the run off is clearing Jordanelle is not know for a great top water bite but you can get them that way at times.. look for post spawn fish is your best bet..
Not known for a good topwater bite? You’ve been dropshotting too long buddy.[;)]
**I’ve thrown topwater from late April to October. Its a great tw place some days.
**
I went up there a couple weeks ago and caught a few just off a gold rattlin’ rapala. It was in a cove across the lake from the marina
Some days may work better then others for top water, but I guess its what you think is great or just good or even poor..
When I can catch bass all day Why use top water and only get a few fish, blow ups near or swirls under or near a lure is not catching..
I like to catch bass and other fish on top water a lot but the key word is catching the most I can when I’m fishing..
To me a good day is 30+ bass a day or more with all of them over 12" top water at Jordanelle will not do that…
That is why they make so many lures and types and so each fisherman and each lake you fish you can make the most of it…
You are absolutely right bassrods, lol. I need that decoder ring…
