Jordan River Help?

I live very near the Jordan River - Near the Peace Gardens on 8th South. I normally fish for trout, so I am completely puzzled on what methods to use in order to catch fish in this slower, warmer river. Any tips would be appreciated. Thank you, P.

Drift nightcrawlers and/or carp meat for bait through the deeper holes. You can use a sliding egg sinker setup above a swivel, with a 3-4 foot leader and the bait below that. Don’t put too much weight on. Let it drift along slowly. You’ll catch some nice cats that way.

Beware of rats living along the riverbank in that area, and I don’t mean muskrats.
They will generally scatter when you show up, but will come back out if you are not moving about.

I fish the jordan river all the time. I have caught more fish the farther south you go but their are still fish up north. I fund it was harder to fish the bridges and areas that are close to high traffic.(roads parks ect.) because people have trashed their shopping carts, bicycles, old fences, rebar connected to concrete slabs, and so on and so on. I also stopped using any lures that cost more than 50 cents. The river eats mass tackle. A hook sinker and worm is a great way to catch fish. If it is snaggy I use a bobber to keep everything off the bottom and drift your worm that way. I determine how far up the bobber is by how deep I think the fish are hangin out. Another way that I have found very productive is fishing smaller jigs. I like to use lighter weighted jigs so I can manage to keep them off the bottom 1/8 oz is almost too much for me. With the JIG I have caught lots of white bass ,a few largemouth, my biggest to date walleye, nice crappie, and a couple green sunfish. The Jordan is like a box of chocolate, Never know what ya gonna get. Powelle is also like a box of chocolates.
I have also caught trout, cats, suckers and carp using spinners and worms on the Jordan[fishon]

I live on about 9th south, you can try under the bridge there. It ain’t pretty, but I always see carp, suckers, and the occasionaly catfish there. It’s a slow and deep section, so the fish sometimes stack up pretty good. But when the water is cold like it is now they don’t seem to bite as well. I got some carp and a sucker a few weeks back, nothing fancy. Good for feeling a fish on the line though.

Thanks!
