Did anybody fish Causey this weekend? I’m headed up there in the morning. What are the conditions & fishing like?
Took a drive up to Causey late this afternoon just for you. Arrived at the dam around 4:30pm to get a first hand report from someone, anyone exiting the lake. The lake was void of fishermen. One car on the dam and several other vehicles & snowmobiles at the overlook but no fishermen.
I don’t want to steal anyone’s thunder but it looked slow. There were plenty of tracks onto the lake at the dam over what appears to be a solid edge. There were also ATV tracks all over the deep water area from the South arm near the gate headed up the East arm around the corner and out of sight. Ice must be fairly safe for someone to take a vehicle out there? Truck temp gage read 27 degrees.
Hope this helps? Give us a fishing report after your trip tomorrow.
I was up there on Saturday morning, first one on the lake at 7:00 AM. Ice was a good 5 + inches in the places I drilled. Shortly after getting set up, the bites started. very light bites and they would not stay long. Stayed until 11 then packed it up. Only managed two small bows, didn’t see anyone else catching anything, so I am guessing it was slow for them too.
I when fishing this morning just to get a report for you. I made Swiss cheese out of the ice and only caught 6 fish at noon. The fish were about 7 inch Rainbow to 15 inch Splake. I would drill several holes at different depth. Eventually there would be a hit in one hole I would even get a second hit. I would think the game was on as I sat there waiting for the next hit. After 20 minutes I would give up and start drilling holes in a new spot and start all over again. There was two other guys there they had about the same results only caught small 4 to 8 inch fish.
