The previous Ice Watch thread by SkunkedAgain was hijacked by duck hunters and is no longer functional, so I thought I’d start a new thread for those of us who want to stay focused on ice fishing.
That said, does anyone know whether there’s ice on Scofield or any other lakes?
Thank you for starting a new thread. Just did a drive-by at Pineview. Lake is 99.99% ice free. There a little ice forming in the shallow coves and the inlets but that is it.
I think it’ll be a while before Pineview is fishable.
I do most of my fishing on Flaming Gorge and some of the nearby lakes like Echo and Rockport, and sometimes at Fish Lake. One of my stepsons has a cabin at Scofield so I go there now and then, and it usually freezes over by the end of Nov so that’s usually the first place I go to fish.
It had ice bergs yesterday and word is it’s about completely covered with ice today.** **My local ponds are freezing slower than the last few years, may take a little longer to get safe ice this year. J
Mantua is iced over for the most part. I’m sure its not safe yet . The boat ramp is also frozen. So to answer your question about launching a boat -I would say no. I will post when I see people standing out there.
According to udots website, Sr 35 is still open and the traffic cameras show mostly clear roads. You may be able to get to Mill hollow in a vehicle with 4wd. It had 7 inches of ice last week
Great Salt Lake is definitely capped over in most places, and now very hard to duck hunt…no drilling necessary, just a very heavy airboat…should you get a few nibbles, a size 4 in a ’ Win or Rem’ pattern work good, in red or green, or that smaller pattern in yellow is also effective…Guluk hunting, er, fishing…or Both! …
