ice fishing deer creek?

i have recently started ice fishing deer creek a lot latley. ive always gone west of the boat ramp on the island side. mixed success. first time 2 hand sized bows, second time not a bite, today a fat rainbow. ive always gone out in the evenings but am going out early tomorrow morn. i would really like to get into some perch seeing as ive never caught one before. any tips on where to find them, what depth, bait, etc. id really appreciate it, thanks

We were catching them in Rainbow Bay a few weeks ago in about 45-50 feet of water ( 3/4 out to the bouys) on chartreuse jigs or glow white ice jigs tipped with nightcrawler or mealworms. We caught 15 but all were 9" or smaller.

i hear the fish are for the most part pretty deep. do they move in shallower in the mornings and evenings, or are they still pretty deep?

I was up there this morning where the shore goes steep West of the boat ramp.
caught 3 rainbows down 15 feet in 26 feet of water. Caught perch in 23 feet of water on the bottom. No size to them. Fished from 8 am to around 10:30 am. Small glow jig tipped with crawler.

I was just out there last Sunday and got into a bunch Perch in same area as where you normally fish only deeper. I was in about 45 ft of water, got hole bunch of lilttle ones and one 13" hog Perch. Got them on Rat Finkies.

Perch are right off the bottom.. We just used works. Man those perch are tasty

awesome, this has been super helpful thanks. was out this morning from just before 7am to 10:30am. not a nibble… six different holes in different depths, a few different jigs, 2 different baits. didnt look like anyone was finding them this morning.

For those perch you literally need to have your bait within a few inches of the bottom and set the hook at the first sign of a bite. I’ve been catching them before and reeled up to 12 inches off the bottom instead of 3 and stopped getting bites til I dropped it back down there. I’ve found perch both times I’ve gone out on the dam side of the lake in 40 to 65 ft. If you just keep your bait near the bottom and keep moving around out in the deeper water you"ll find them sooner or later. Lots of times they won’t show up on a fish finder since they sit right on the bottom.
