Showed up to Mantua at about 730 am with zero action for an hour and a half so we went up the road a bit to Hyrum.
The road to the swimming beach was plowed and clear ($8/vehicle State Park Fee). Ice was about 8 inches thick and noisy all afternoon. There was about 2-3 feet of open water at the shore but some fine citizen left some wood planks to make crossing the water easier. Fished in 8-15 feet of water with hot perch action at every hole. Jigged just off the bottom with ice flies/kast masters/paddle bugs tipped with night crawler or perch meat. Iced 12 fish in the first 30 minutes of fishing. Jigging seemed to attract bites. Caught 4 rainbows between 10 and 16 inches and saw several other anglers pulling rainbows through the ice as well.
