Great looking fish ā they donāt get much prettier than those tiger trout. I seem to see a family resemblance! It looks like the water is still up really good. Petty4Life why didnāt we go here Saturday with your boat instead of to Jordanelle with my boat?
Great report Fuzzy, looks like a fantastic trip and awesome pics as well. I too would like to know where huntington is. Looks like a fantastic getaway. Is there much camping there and what type of boat can you put on the water?
huntington is up fairview canyon by cleveland res and electric lake.. the only boats you can take on the water is one you can hand launch!! and it is aways away where you park..
Great report fuzzy! Were any of those beautiful tiger trout more than 17 1/2 inches? Thatās the current catch-and-release record for tiger trout. You may have the new record!
I went to Huntington once, a couple of years ago. I took my float tube out there and caught them casting a black wooly bugger on sinking fly line. They are beautiful fish! One thing that drove us nuts there were the thousands of flies! There were biting deer flies and regular bothersome ones. But they covered you, even with bug spray on they wouldnāt leave you alone. There is no campground at the lake, although there are a couple in the area, I think near electric lake. There are some places you can camp right near the shore, though, that are pretty good, just no facilities. We set up camp there, but by afternoon the flies drove us so mad we said forget it and went home!
that would be interesting to find out. that looks more like a broken tail to me. most of the infected fish i have seen from whirling disease is bent or oddly shaped in the middle of the back. but im not a expert on it. it would also be interesting since it is a hybrid and suppose to be more resistant to the disease. interesting either way.
I love to fish Huntington but I mostly fish it through the ice. Iāve only fished it once in the summer. And I have NEVER pulled out the size of Tiger that you are showing in the photos.
I am hoping to get up there this fall with my canoe. Can you tell me the lure (color, size, etc) you used? Everything I try seems to be hit & miss. I would love to pull a Tiger out big enough to take a photo of. Plus, Iāll be taking my 5 year old daughter up. When we asked her what she wanted to do for her birthday this year she said āI want to go fishing with daddyā - Boy, if that just donāt melt ya!
we were fishing with flatfish in silver and white with red spots.. but they were hitting most anything we put out it was just the bigger fish was hitting the bigger flatfish..
