Huntington ice up date 11/14/2011

yeah i stoped over to Cleveland and took a look but did not make the hike down the hill.. it looked about the same as huntington maybe not as thick of ice as huntington.. becouse there was very little snow on the ice.. huntington had more snow on the ice then Cleveland and there looked to be more water on the ice at cleveland.. again give it 2 or 3 days should be good. both lakes are 100% iced so the wind should not be braking it up and it will just get thicker from here on out..

I got off early today and decided to make a quick run up to see for myself. Got there about 3:30. There was one lone guy out on the ice so I decided to walk out. I called to him and he said there was 4-5 inches of ice where he was at. I am usually braver walking on the snow as you can imagine the ice is thick enough and it is easier to walk without falling. I picked a spot 40-50 yds away and drilled. The auger went through on the first turn. Dang I had no more than 3 inches under the crusty snow. The other guy left about this point. I backed off and walked on the frozen slush areas avoiding the snow - I think the frozen slush combined with the ice underneath made maybe 5 inches. Well I was out there and not wet yet so I put down. Caught and released 12 tigers up to 14 inches before the sun went down and I decided it was time to return.
