Just curious about the ice conditions at Huntington. Any fishing reports?
Hey Ice sled,
Fished it Saturday from about 5:30am to 4:00pm. Ice is right around 4-5 inches. There were plenty of people fishing it. We started at the dam and caught fish there, but we moved north to see if we could find some of the bigger fish and get away from the people. There were 5 of us in my group. My one brother had never heard the ice “sing” before. I think he might have had to change his shorts when he got home. He even spilled some hot chocolate on him and came busting out of his new ice shack several times as the ice popped and cracked all day long…especially early morning and late afternoon. Funny shiz! Anyway, we slayed the fish all day long on white jigs tipped with night crawlers, minnows and shrimp. It was definitely an AWESOME way to start the ice fishing season! ![]()

Was the ice singing in a good way or bad way? Looks like a ton of fun. How are the roads getting up there? I have a “non-snow worthy” car by the way.
Sweet post! I love those tigers. Roads are great, they plow that road all year long and do a pretty good job. The ice was singing in a good way. However yesterday was really warm in fairview so I’m not sure how the mountain was. I still dont thing you will have any ice problems.
Now that the cat is out of the bag…
Fished it Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. All trips turned out great with saturday being the most productice with over 60 fish. The largest was 16 inches with one bigger one lost right at the hole that would’ve been over 20. Becareful the ice is slick and there are still a few weak spots.
With out much ice on any other body of water I would bet that this weekend there will be even more poeple there now that everyone knows.
