Three of us went to Scofield yesterday, and had a really fun day. We found 13" of ice off a point, and settled in there. We stayed there the entire day, only moving deeper as the day went on. Mostly, we fished in 25 feet of water, and found most fish suspended, or at least most active, in the 15 to 18 foot range. Many fish were flying up off the bottom to strike, but were not actively taking a lure just off the bottom.
We really got into the cutthroats and a few 'bows, most of them ranging from 12" to 16" in length. No chubs, for which we were thankful. We stayed quite busy the entire time, and although we didn’t keep a count, we went through a couple of boxes of 50 waxies.
The weather was mild, with only a little infrequent breeze. It would have been a perfect day to have kids out on the ice.
All I can say is fish your lure a little more than half-way down, and see if the action isn’t good for you, too. We were dunking Gitzits, Rat Finkees and tube jigs.
Its great to see others had a good time at scofield today as well. I went with a group of 7 today and had an awesome time. We were usin minnows and stayed pretty steady all day.Thanks for your report.
