I’ve noticed you the most in the bass section and have a question for you. This weekend I’m going down to sand hallow by st. george and wanted to know your thoughts on it, if any. If you have any suggestions on what works best in this time of year would be awesome too. I beleive it is supposed to be in the 50’s.
Thanks
R.
If he does not respond to you, try sending him a PM. I know one of the guys that live down in that area said the bass catching was slow this time of the year but good luck, maybe you will find some willing bass. WH2
I just got back from a long drive…
If I was going to fish sand this weekend I would try finding fish with my depth finder in 20’ to 40’ in the south east end and out toward the middle…
I would use a drop shot with a ROBO worm to start and a senko in watermelon/lemon in 4" and 5" and bubblegum same size with it wacky with a 1/16 belly weight and if you snag a lot try it weedless …
And I would try a white spinner bait willow leaf in 1/2 oz sloooow rowed on the bottom and a jig an pig in black & blue and brown & blue and a Yamamoto Kreature in pumpkin/black flake and if none of these work throw the sink or tub…
Look at the other fisherman and where they are fishing, its hard to say without knowing how high the water is…
Good luck and let us know how you do…
Wow. Looks like I’ll go buy a thing or two. Thanks for the info. I basically fished for pike/muskie and trout with crank baits and spinners. Do you know a web site where they have instructions on different set ups like the " drop shot"?
Thanks again
R.
You can enter “Drop Shot Fishing” into any search engine and you will get hundreds of sites with good info and diagrams. Here are a few links to some of the better ones.
If you look at the insider line the first one TD has on the list you will see the little pack of hooks in the yellow package that is the ones I like to use…
Let me save you some time and grief. The water temps at Sand Hollow are in the high 30’s right now. If you don’t know the lake like the back of your hand, now really is not the time to try and crack it. Give it a month or so and things will start turning around.
Beerman hit the nail right on the head. If your new to bass fishing, a trip to sand hollow right now may discourage you. If all you have is time, than might as well give it a shot. Trout over at quail is a better chance for success.
Yeah, I’m actually going down with some friends that are buying a place by the golf course I guess. So I’m actually golfing monday and just thought I’d try fishing saturday evening when we get there. I figure I’ll go over to quail on monday morning.
Thanks guys
