Hello to all here. I am delighted to be here with all you fellow fisherman/woman. I look forward to posting my/our family fishing trips, fly or other… We are new to Utah, from New York, no not NY City, but the country near Buffalo. Hope you guys can help us find so great fishing for my kids, wife and I as we are all big on fishing. We fish 3 or 4 times a week, even if it just for a few hours…

Welcome, glad to have you. That is nice you can get up and go so much, even for a few hours. Sometimes we try to make each outing a big trip and can’t get out as much as we like.

Welcome to Utah, plenty of fishing here even if we are considered to have the 2nd lowest annual rainfall of all the States. Pretty country you come from, the wife and I spent some time at Niagra Falls on vacation a couple years back. I’m sure you will pick up plenty of tips of where and how to catch the various spieces of fish Utah has to offer on this site. [fishin]

We live in the Sandy area. Places we have been. Strawberry, Provo middle some browns nothing big and Lower some nice rainbows and a few nice browns, Big Cottonwood brooks and browns, Bell reservoir great Cutts, Diamond Creek nothing, Sand Hollow reservoir lots of nice large bass, just went the the middle Weber today and hooked into my first hopper brown what a take… Been to the Ogden with some nice size browns and some rainbows wife picked up a 15 1/2 incher fat brown first that size on a fly-rod. I need to learn the fly patterns here in Utah better so any advice is much welcome…

I did have a carry permit in NY, and I will say this, it took 15 months 15 years ago and now it is ever harder for lawful citizens to get one. I said enough was enough when the past a law I can no longer pass my firearms done to my children… Lived in the sticks just outside Buffalo and let me say the turkey, deer, fish and small game hunting is off the hook. Steelhead and 20lb lake run Browns…

Hope your not too disappointed with your move. The hunting out here is really suffering lately. DWR says its lack of habitat for winter range I personally think it had more to do with the resurgence of high numbers of top teer predators. Anyway it’s sad to see the changes over the last 30 years. However on the fishing front I think things seem to be getting better. Flamming Gorge will give you some trophy fishing for Mac, Browns, and Kokanee. With a half day drive in the spring you can still fish steelhead up on the Salmon river in Idaho. Seems to be lots of fun to be had just wish I had more free time to enjoy it. Good luck and welcome. J
