Hit the lake about 4:30 pm with a slight breeze blowing from the SSW. Launch my newly bought 12 ft flat bottom which was a steal of a deal. Wanted to see if it leaked. Picked up a buddy who claimed he could fish. Water temp around 68 - 71 degrees. Not a lot of people or boats out. The two ski boats that were out there blew by us about 75 feet doing 80mph. Needless to say, the boat wazza rockin. We gave a “friendly” wave to the nice people and they decided to come by again even closer. They smiled and we smiled and we lived happily ever after. They left us alone after that. We got into the action pretty quickly. Catching crappie was easy with the occasional nice one. We managed to catch 5 tiger muskies on crappie jigs. No pics and my wife would kill me if I took the camera out. We ended up with 21 crappie, 1 bass, and 1 perch. We caught lots more but to small. The wind picked up late and we headed out. Overall it was a good day and we did not sink the boat. Caution: last Saturday there were 15 ski boats on the little lake of Newton. Fish early or late to avoid the Hells Angels.
