Gorge tips?!?!

I’m making the journey out to the gorge tomorrow evening! could anyone help a guy out on some good tips? the boat is staying home tomorrow, so we will just be doin some good old bank tanglin. wouldn’t mind goin after the kokes if possible, but will take what i can get

Ive never seen a koke caught from shore.

Welcome to the site Skullsetter, sorry for the poor response to your question but few of us fish from shore during the summer. As fall approaches however that will change and when it happens, I usually shore fish using a night crawler and a mini marshmellow to keep the worm off the bottom. With my second pole I usually throw a rooster tail spinner near rocky shore lines for smallmouth. Seeings how your post is a week old, I’m guessing you have been there and back by how, so this info does you little good until your next trip but how did you do?

Well maybe it is too late but I would toss the worm on the bottom where ever you think it is the deepest. I had the most bites that way. The roostertail spinner suggestion worked while trolling in 15 to 25 feet worth of water. THINK DEEP! The water temps are in the upper 70’s.

Plastics for smallies barely produced (1 big one broke off). Sure it was on a toon but we were casting into the shore line in the deepest part of the bay.
