Iced this beauty on Tuesday from opposite side of confluence point. He hit my jig somewhere between 15 and 20 feet below the ice. Water was only 35 feet deep. Tipped scale at just over 30lbs, 42 1/4inches. We only caught one other fish(3 1/2lb pup) all day. They were in there but did not seem to want to bite. Fished for burbot with not a single hit all night. We burbot fished east shore line of lost dog in anywhere from 30 to 10 feet of water. I’ve taken all the advice i can get. 3inch radical glows and sucker meat ect. This has been my 3rd attempt to catch those things with absolutely no luck. Great post up to here kentofnsl.
awesome fish man. thanks for sharing ![]()
Great catch. That area has been hit so hard this year for burbot (not that I’m complaining) that you need to head further south from that point to find the ling. Find rocky points in about 15-20 feet of water and you should find them. Don’t give up.
Great Job Foolferfshn,
Nice looking Mack,
What pound line was you using ?
also was you using the same tubes when you stuck him.
I gave up on Lost Dog as well. I am not sure if the burbot are dodging bullets, or if we actually have dented the population. Before the Bash my buddies and I iced about 300 of the slimey fish in multiple trips. After the Bash, we have iced two.
The guys are right, head further south to Buckboard or Anvil and find some rocky coves. Last week we caught 33 bots, they were all small, but still fun to catch.
Nice job on the lunker! I hope you had more than a 6 inch hole? LOL
I use 8lb test line and Berkley grubs (3inch).
Thats a dandy mack you have there, good job man. I’d take one of those over a passle of those slimy bots any day. Good luck on the next trip.
Thats a pig for sure i’m jealous now. Was your hole big enough or did you have to do some more drilling?
Hell of a fish!! I would crap down both legs, if I saw that monster coming through the hole in the ice! Nice one for sure!!!
Freakin A! I should have came with you guys… you plannin on going anywhere tomorrow?
Sweet fish man! I have had the itch to go down there so bad just for the small chance of icing a fish HALF that size! That thing is a true trophy through the ice! Right on!
Funny thing is that my I couldn’t get my 8" auger to run all morning so I had been using my 6" manual auger up until we fished that very spot. Luckily, the 8" auger fired up long enough to drill just a few holes to get the job done right. There is no way it would have worked with a 6" hole.
Congrats looks like a nice fish.
looking forward to seeing some more.
Rapala need I say more.
