What is the best way to get to East Canyon reservoir? I would be coming from the south and would be planning on taking Hwy 65 from I 80. Is 65 from I 80 open in the winter time? Thanks.

You can use google to answer a lot of questions like this one. [;)] As per the link to state park info, hway 65 is now closed. You will have to take I-80 all the way around past Echo Res. Then you can jump on 1-84 to Henefer. Go through Henefer and you will see the signs for East Canyon Reservoir.
Good luck, my bet is the lake will be capped and ready to fish in by tomorrow or Sat.
Or you can take the back road through Jeremy Ranch. Its alot quicker and its always plowed.
Are you talking a dirt road or a highway type road?
you pass through jermemy ranch just past the summit of parleys, it is ususally plowed with dirt under it. I have never had a problem in my truck. Alot of people like to cross country ski on it so they dont plow it down to the dirt, it is usually snow packed. You pass through a cattle ranch and some other stuff but just head straight on that road and you pop out near the east canyon lodge. I go that way from salt lake and it saves so much time compared to going over through mountain dell it saves close to an hour. I get there in 45 minutes or less from downtime SLC.

Huh so i was just on Google Maps, I am guessing the road you are talking about is called “Jeremy Road” ?
On the EC side it comes out on Hwy 65 right?
That is great to know, it will save me a ton of time if I want to jump over and check out DC or Jordanelle when already at EC. Thanks for the pointers!!
off the jeremy ranch exit take a left then another left by the gas station, then a right on jeremy road and head straight on that and you will pop out on the 65. I would always use 4wd, with all this snow it could be tricky rght now. Let me know how it is with the snow.. That finger right there near the lodge was pretty hot last year, i go there before i can get on the ice at strawberry and FG.. Not the biggest fish but a good warm up to get out..
