Decided to head up to east canyon today anyways. It was a beautiful day. Went up thru the Jeremy Ranch road. Very muddy but passed over it in a mini van. Stopped in my favorite hole from shore at around 3:30 pm. By 5 we had landed 5 fish. Kids had a blast catching them. All but 1 caught on worm and marshmallow or powerbait. One caught on a fly. The fish are relatively close to shore. I think I will float my pontoon up ther on tuesday morning.
Any ice left
I was up there at 8:30 in the morning and there was already a boat trolling by the dam. We launched and trolled for about 4 hours and caught about 30 fish.. (we caught 7 that were in the 16-18 inch range ) There is a little ice by the dam, then about half way up there is a chunk of ice blocking the upper half.. I didn’t really check to see if you could boat by the bank around it.. We had about 2 hours that the lake was total glass!!! The view with the bald eagles was awesome!!!
There was a patch of ice by the dam. Another by the north east bay and one large one as stated before that nearly blocks the south arm of the lake. I am willing to bet that be this weekend it will be entirely ice free. YAY. drakebob when did you guys leave. I saw a big ford pulling out of the marina with a boat and saw another boat out trolling still as we passed by the marina at about 6 pm.
We left around 1pm.. I drive a white chevy.. I was a little surprised at how many people were fishing from the banks.. I am guessing there were at least 35 people fishing.
Yeah there were at least that many fishing from the shore on the inlet side when I arrived. We were the last to leave. There were still a few on float tubes and a few from shre by the dam and that was it.
Do you know if Hwy 65 through Emigration Canyon from I-80 to East Canyon is open?
I remember that it was closed this time last year and I couldn’t get through from SLC.
Do I need to go via Jeremy Ranch Rd, or will Hwy 65 be open?

the road is not open yet usually around memorial weekend depending on the snow i live in morgan and will post when sign comes down
So do you just take Jeremy Ranch Rd up from I-80 and then take 65 up from Jeremy Ranch Rd ??
How is that road? Is it paved, muddy, gravel ?? Is it a decent road to drive on, or does it get slippery when it gets wet this time of year ??

Ya it is still closed. The Sheriff said they may open it up in another week or two if this warm weather continues. All the snow is on the back side.
it is a gravel road my brother came over it yesterday and said it was really soft and muddy in places but afew days of sunshine will really help
