FLY SWAP

I originally thought we were tying two of the same fly for each participant but then I got the idea that we were doing two flies but each one different. I guess some are tying one each for three different flies.

Got some Johnny Flash flies going at the moment.

There are eleven now, so if you can tie 12 of one fly that is great, if you want to tie another 12 of another flie, fantastic, but only a dozen is required.
I am going to be sending out 12 of a flashback WD40 and 12 of a surprise .
This just depends on how much you like to tie and how many you wanna show off LOL

For some unknown reason I have never tied a WD40. So as you say:

SWEETE!

Thanks for the clarification.

Gotta go finish up that dozen I am working on right now.

Show off???

You think with a name like Scruffy Fly I am going to be able to strut with anything that anybody would want to see?

The extent of my show off is going to be that I can actually complete a fly that is a size 22.

Goddess you know how much we all love your surprises…

Scruffy…

Id say anyone who has the talent to tie flys should show off.. I have not learned it yet.. but maybe one day.. but I have seen some really great looking work from a few people I have gotten to know on ff bb’s…not only do I appreciate their sending me the flies.. I appreciate the time and effort it takes to tye one of these things… [:)]

I’m trying hard for 3 flies. Three dozen, yea, I think I can do it.

katghoti

That is so cool! But your flies are so perfect, don’t push yourself.
By the way, the FLY SWAP is officially closed. So, nice Dozen will get us going.
Thanks all and I can’t wait to see them.
One more thing, Be sure and attach some how some information about the fly, specially who tied it.
Recipes would be great.

Then when I get them I can post: Picture, who tied it, and instructions on how to make them. If you have already sent them with out, I will try to PM you on some info.
And business cards work great for display of fly and info.

Okay I can show off a little on this part. I am creating a web page that will have recipe and picture. You can copy and save it to a word document or whatever. But one of these days I will have to delete it off so you will want to save it some place.

Now how pretencious is that. Assuming that someone will want to because the fly actually will catch a fish.

Very Cool. Maybe when it is time you can help me with this. How do I see what you have done?

Personally…I cant wait to see your web page with all that information.. and I dont think you are being pretentious…

I have not posted it yet. After I figure that out I will let you know. I might be able to help you. At the moment I have time on my hands but that may disappear instantly.

Okay, with the usual AOL inadequate and not user friendly tools and with some unusually competent on line help I have got my page loaded and figure out how to access it. It is not finished but here ya go.

take a look at what I have tied for you so far.

Very Nice! I think I will have to tie some of these up for this weekend on the Provo.

[:(]Darn it now I have to say what my ugly creations are suppose to represent. I was going to send my flies in a brown bag with no return address. I don’t care if you send them back as not to embarrass either you or me. Me for making them & you FGD for having enough guts to forward them on. Now do you think the fishys really care how nice they look? I hope not! :face_with_tongue: The other week my local paper [sports section] had a nice article about fly fishing. This week the subject was “Hooked on the art of fly-tying”. They estimate that between 10 - 20% of the fly fishermen [generic term] tie flies. Yesterday I stopped in at one of the local craft stores to look for beads and other items. The clerk mentioned that she has a lot of men coming in buying a variety of items used in making flies. I picked up a pack of 200 2mm brass beads for $2.99 where as Bob Marriotts gets $15.00. They carry marabou, hackle, peacock eye quills etc. I think that they found another customer.

Scruffy…

Nice start to your web page… [:)]

They all represent bugs and other delectible trout snacks. enough said.

Many many of my flys look ugly hence the name scruffy fly. and the few pretty ones I accomplish to tie tend to catch more fish once they start getting chewed up, hence the name scruffy fly. Besides that I am between FG’s age and your age. Probably closer to your age. Thus I am getting to the point in my life where I don’t care what I look like, hence the name scruffy fly.

I am sure that your size 12 and size 14 flys you are threatening to tie will attract as much attention as what I am tying. There is a famous river near buy where all the pundents say you need a size 20 and smaller but I have caught my fair share of fish on size 6 to size 12 flys. Guys don’t believe me when I tell them what I am fishing… until they look. One of my best memories is using a size 12 Royal Wulff there and having a 16 inch rainbow clear the water by a foot and half while snatching it off the water.

Everyone of us has started where you are at.

I do have a better ability to tie small flys than I do the larger flys.

I will be anxious to find out how the work out for you..

:sunglasses:Yes the Royal Wulff is my all time favorite. I have several in sizes 10-16. Have tied a few but much more practice tying these is needed before I can let the fishys have a peek.[;)] LOL
