Can we get back to the FLY SWAP ![]()
for some reson,i don’t think your as quiet and shy as your avitar.LOL i am in for the fly swap.let me know how many and where to send them
So as I read it, we send you three flies. Two for the swap and one for a newbee. When you give the word via a PM with your address I will forward them on with a SAE or box. Could hardly expect for you to pay the returned postage.
It does depend on the time frame. When do they need to be tied? Any fly used in the winter? If the time frame works I will participate.
right now we have :
Kataghoti
Dryrod
Lunkerhunter
Scruffy fly
bioman
Thudpucker
tomc
tybugs
and myself
That is nine and great so far. Let’s give it till October 31st to sign up, then till the end of November to get the flies to me. That will make it close to a great XMas gift to everyone.
I will even deal with the lines at the POST OFFICE LOL
I will tie three flies. A biot midge emerger, a hotwire midge (sweet little number with a glass bead head the brown just love), I will also whip up some beadhead zebra midges that do well in most rivers around here. All flies in size 20 and 22

How we doing on the fly swap? got 9 and lets wait till the 31st for anyone else that wants to get in on this.
How about it Pokyman?
I have been away from BFT for over a week. I see that there is a fly swap going to happen here. I’m interested!
There is a little confusion though. It looks to me that if 10 people join, then I will tie and send 10 flies plus 1 extra for a total of 11 flies minimum. Is this correct?
I will need to know where to send the flies and a little more about how you want them sent. I’m not quite sure about how we get the other flies sent back to us. Please let me know what we do to get this going and I will do it. Thanks, Dale.
SWEET! Thanks DKS, now with one more we can tie an even dozen
.
On the details I will pm you my address as soon as every on has signed in then you just send me your (amount of people +1 as you stated) flies with a self addressed stamped envelope or collapsible box, your choice. I will divide the flies and send it back to you.
You guys realize that if you include yourself on the list, then you don’t need to tie an extra one, unless you want one of yours back.
I have all my flies tied up(counting on less than 13 people, i ran out of materials) and ready to go. I am very rusty. It has been since about last december that i even looked at my vise. It doesn’t matter though, the whitefish and browns love these flies no matter how horrible they look.[;)]
I will send all 13. If there are more than 13 takers, i will get more materials.
Okay, we got our swap, here is the names of the Partisipants:
DKStroufitter

I have one more person if it is ok. He is a new member with only about 3 posts, and also completely new to fishing this fall. He is excited to learn how to tie and wants in on this. His bft name is djremo.
Tybugs, how about have them to me by November 30th (maybe some of you can tie after having a great Thanksgiving dinner or at least a long weekend to get them)

I’ve tied a dozen blood worms (#18) and am working on some sowbugs.(#14) This is so cool!!! I can definitely tell a difference in the quality of my fly tying because of this swap. The ones I tie for myself can look crummy, but I just can’t give them to someone, so I’ve forced myself to do a better job of tying. Thanks again for doing this for us.
Winter flies are okay for those that live in an area that has more than two seasons. Unfortunately there are some of us where the climate is discribed as warm & warmer. Well I will or have tied some Clouser Minnows, Woolly Buggers &some midges. Should I pack them in dry ice?[;)] LMAO.
I tell you what Dryrod, You ties us what YOU use in the winter, and we’ll tie you what we use and see if they work in both situations. This could be fun, but I will warn you to get those magnifiers out for mine LOL ![]()

Sorry flygoddess - a 14 is the smallest that I can work with and that is with my using magnifiers.
