Fishing near Moab???

I’m headed down to Moab this weekend, and I’m wondering if there is any good fishin in that area this time of the year. Anybody have any experience?

Its been way too long ago but there is some fishing down to Moab to be had.
Ken’s Lake south of town is fair for sun fish and some trout at times. Nothing big and all planters (trout).
Up in the LaSal mountains there are lots of small lakes that hold trout, however I’ve never caught anything big up there. Further south in Monticello there are some lakes up in the blue mountains that hold some fair fishing as well for trout.
Its been a long time since I’ve been down there so I’m sure its changed.
Stop at the DWR office at the south end of town and ask around. They don’t mind giving tips and directions.

All of the trout in Ken’s Lake, the LaSal Mountains, and the Blue Mtn.s are dink planters. They get pretty well fished out every summer Unless things have changed drastically. You can find some big channel cat in the Colorado river though. Both upstream and down from Moab.

Thanks! This information is not very encouraging, but it is still helpful. Maybe I’ll take my bike instead of my fishing pole. Or, looking at the weather forecast for this weekend, maybe I’ll take my cross-country skis.

Now that would be a first for Moab. You better ski as the snow flakes are coming down. LOL . I grew up there and only remember twice you could have skied there. But then my memory is about as long as …

I was down there in March a couple years back for business meetings. I had a great time catching decent (15-18") catfish in the back eddies along the river upstream from Moab. Take your bike, fishing pole and your camera and you can’t lose down there.

You might want to pass those catfish through a Geiger Counter before you think about eating them! LOL Who knows, you might have a new “glow” when you come back after eating them!
