Fish Lake?

im just wondering if anyone knows the skinny on fish lake? also any recommendations for a one day ice fishin trip, I have a vacation from school and could use any advice. much thanks!

As of last week it wasn’t frozen. Splake fishing was good as well as rainbow. We hit a couple mac’s the week before last towards the end of the spawn. They might be in a post spawn feed, but am not sure. We were hitting all three species on a chartruese tube, tipped w/ worm for rainbows and tipped w/ minnow or perch for splake. Fishing is hot! Wish I had a boat and I would be down there myself! Most splake were in 25-40 and rainbows seemed a bit shallower. We couldn’t catch any perch for the life of us, which was wierd because that usually is never the case. I think they head out to deeper water to try and avoid the macs that were shallower for the spawn and post spawn. Perch is great for tipping jigs and I think the splake prefer it to minnow. Drop your jig to the bottom and jig right off the bottom to about two feet. If nothing, slowly reel up and jig on the vertical. Alot of hits were on the sink, so heads up! Have fun and best of luck. Let me know how it goes.

hey thank for the help, i appreciate it. any estimates on when it will freeze? the best ice fishing of my life was down there last year and i would love to hit it again.

Fish Lake is one of the last to freeze around here. I wouldn’t count on it until at least after Christmas or the first of the year. The weather could change that either way.

Have the Splake put an any size this year?? All ours were between 15-18 last year.

My experience with fish lake is that it does not freeze on the north end till second week in jan. However, the south end does freeze first but I dont fish on the south end.

Didn’t seem like we were catching any much bigger than that. They seemed healthy for the most part.
