went down to fish lake again yesterday… fishing was hot all day we went to my buddy’s spot this time.. still no mack’s that we got on the ice i did have a pup up to the hole but he spit the hook at the hole..perch fishing was better there this time..we even got two perch that was quite big for fish lake.. we had splake, rainbows,and perch on tap all day long.. if we went more then 10 min’s without a bite then we just moved to a diffret hole for a little while and we would start catching fish again.. i dont think i went more than 15 min’s at any time yesterday without a bite.. in the morning the bite was hard and fast but as the day went on the bite got realy light and hard to hook the fish..
all in all a great day on one of the greatest ice fishing lakes i have ever fished!!
ice was 10 to 12 inchs thick with very little snow on it..seen snowmobiles and wheelers out on the ice so if you want to take a ride with you should be ok..
no i did not even take minnows with this time.. the only bait i use at fish lake is perch or chub.. the fish liked the perch better than any thing i found.. my buddy was useing waxworms for awhile but found that the perch worked better and stayed on the hook better as well..
talked to a buddy of mine today and he was headed down some time this week so i might have to tag along!! fish lake rock’s
Man I can’t wait until Thursday when I can hit the road for Fishlake. If I wasn’t in charge of meeting the next two days I would be on the road tomorrow. I hope the fishing stays good or even get better for the weekend.
no most the perch we cough were small..we only cought 2 that were fat like the one in the pic.. the other one was the last fish i cought before packing it up.. i did see another perch on the ice that someone else had cought that was about 14" and just as fat as the one i cought..it looks like they might be getting some size to them there!! i hope so i rather eat perch than any other fish in that lake. and there is alot of them there.
if you look in the pic and see the small perch around the splake that is the average size of the perch in fish lake..
Boy a fatty 14" perch would be nice, i sure hope that the perch in there can get some size to them, they sure are tasty to eat, just a pain to filet the smaller ones.
That looks like a fun time, fuzzyfisher. Nice looking colors on those Splake. Were you using the usual for bait (minnows) or something else?
