well finley the pull of the ice got to me! i just had to go find some ice and get jiggy with it.. [sly].
found about 4" of ice and about 10" long fish..lol most were small i did catch some bow’s about 13 or 14 inch’s .. 2 albinos 1 cutt and a buch of bow’s..
got some pic’s and some Aqua-Vu video..
have to wait for the video tho.. i still need to up load it..
Hey Ron, nice job on those bitty slimers! Congrats on getting out on some safe ice. Do you think Huntington will have a cap on Saturday a.m.? There’s supposed to be a cold front coming in on Wednesday or Thursday. If not, would Fairview Lake be good to go since it’s shallower?
Thanks in advance for your answers since you live near there…
well i have been keeping my eye on huntington for the last week or so.. friday i was going to take my boat up.. the only ice i have seen on huntington was gone by afternoon.. i would not bother with fairview lakes.. they are capped but only about 2 feet deep.. not sure why it was so low there this year.. i would say the only lake with good size fish in it and may be walkable by then would be clevland.. and thats a maybe there.. as long as the wind dont keep it open..
clevland is way down this year and huntington is way up so they are going to flip flop this year i think.. clevland will freeze first then maybe a week or so later huntington.. i hope at lest..
I like to catch fish on the boat, pontoon, shore, ice, whatever. Hats off to you hardcore fishermen who hit the ice first, I think I’ll wait a little bit…and please be safe out there. No fish is worth risking your life.
Nice fish Ron.
That’s awesome. I couldn’t see the fish until they hit your jig or was right next to it. Could you see them coming in on the aquaview or the finder before they actually hit your jig?
lol no i could not see the fish near as good on the Aqua-Vu, as i can on the comp editing the video.. it is realy hard to see the black and white monater on the Aqua-Vu in the sun light.. i see a white blob thats my jig. then i see it move in a way i know it’s a fish and not me jigging. that how i know it’s a fish.. some times i see a shadow like moveing around the jig.. then sometimes i see the fish just fine.. like the albino’s.. i just about got part 2 of the video loaded.. it’s got some albino’s on it and ya can see them well..
Thanks Ron. I appreciate your insight there being a local up there and all. I think it sounds like Cleveland may be worth trying out. If nothing else, I can always shore fish it and just bring the longer rods along as well…
Hey Ron, I call BS on ya.[;)] Glad you got out and caught a few. I think I am headed north (Idaho bound) this Saturday to try my first ice fishing trip.
