Arrived at Echo about 8am. Temp was 1 degree. Whole lake is capped. Ice is 6 - 7 inches thick on the east side. Parked on the second turnoff from the dam “eastside”. Fishing was slow for me. But got enough bites to keep me interested. Took home 1 fat rainbow. Was using rat-finkie tipped with mealworm, and radical glow jig tipped with mealworm. A group of guys were using worms. They seemed to be doing better than I was. A good day just to get away.
I got there about 330 and fished till 6. Did not get a single nibble by the boat ramp by the resort. it was very slow for everyone that I talked to. the water was certainly of color. edges are soft and there is some slush on top in a few places but most the ice was very solid.
My nephew and I stopped by in the late afternoon and fished about 100 yards south of the dam on the east side. The ice was about 3 inches thick. We caught a couple of nice rainbows before it shut down.
Thanks for posting your reports guys, one question though, how was the walk back up from the ice to your truck[:/].
Walk was not bad until you got up to the big boulders.
Yeah the walk up or down wasn’t that bad until the boulders at the top. I slipped and fell on my bum on the way down and getting the sled back up the hill took both of us.
[indent]Do you guys know if atvs are allowed on Echo? The ice was 4 1/2 " yesterday at the boat launch area.
thanks,

Do you guys know if atvs are allowed on Echo? No No No and NO !! Bummer also
Dubob uses his up there.
See what he says.
I’ve been running a snowmobile on there for about 4 years and have never been checked or told I couldn’t do it. I’ve seen other snowmobiles on there and my neighbor went with me once with his ATV. The reservoir is managed by Echo Resort under agreement with the Bureau of Reclamation. I’m not aware of any BoR prohibition on OHVs for Echo and the resort is closed during the winter months. You can access the ice on a snowmobile just south of the boat launch area or the South Beach area. I’ve doon both. If using an ATV, South Beach would be the better choice.
hey just a little update on ice, went up there around 7 am saturday morning and the ice from about 10 yrd to shore where i fished was a solid 4 inches but once i ventured to the deeper water for perch it was ranging from 2 3/4 to 3 1/2 at the most. no noise making from the ice either but there was about an inch layer of slush on top aswell, pretty solid aslong as your not jumping around on it. going back today possibly if the snow isnt too bad.
