Easy flies to tie

Lets talk about easy flies to tie. So many on-line flies require that you purchase several hundred dollars (sic) of fly tying material. This is one that is quick to tie and gets results.

I have probably caught more fish on this particular fly [Royal Wulff excluded].

Hook TMC 900 size 18 - 22. or your preference

Black 8/0 Uni-thread

Ribbing fine copper wire

Body Peacock herl

Grizzly hackle *
Do you have an easy fly add?*

Nice tie.

I only tie the easy ones! Mostly nymphs and a few larger dries. Not many in the <16 range though. I will have to look at my box and see what I have to take a picture of.

I don’t tie anything smaller than a 20 and rarely a 22. Eyes can’t see anything smaller and my fingers are justtoo big.
Hey here is another easy one and it is called a F-Fly.
Hook - dry fly 10-24
Body Peacock herl although it calls for a brown Peacock tail
Thread brown - size depends on hook size. I used 6/0 Uni
Wing Natural CDC
I used an old hook [for practice] so as you can see it is not a dry fly hook.

Looks good to me.. and Im not a fish…

Dryrod, I really like your emerger. Nice little fly. Thanks.

Thanks cpierce. At first i thought that you were kiddingly referring to the orange skirt from which I use the legs. That sucker would never emerge. LOL

I tie “Bully’s Bluegill Spider,” mostly because I haven’t tried to tie anything else.
Directions on the internet are plentiful and it takes only a few simple materials.

This fly takes a little practice, it is VERY easy, it just takes practice getting the dimensions right, but I have still caught fish on some Terrible looking ones. If nothings taking my flies I tie one of these on. If the fish don’t take um theres no fish in that hole. Most expensive item is the super glue. Foam is cheap and plentiful and the legs don’t have to be rubber but I tend to like the rubber legs most. Oh and they float great!

Nice offering! Saw Charlie this last weekend and I am sure he demo this fly.
Thanks.

AND you can get closed cell foam at Michaels, JoAnns or Walmart. Use rubber bands for the legs.
