east canyon conditions and fish???

just wanted to get a update if anyone has been up there lately. I had heard that it was fishing pretty good just didnt see any current posting on the lake.
Also, how is echo doing now? I had heard and read it was really hot with some nice monsters. I am taking a friend from out of town fishing on friday and would like to make sure he has a good time.
Please let me know what worked and conditions.

thanks again,

Okay no one has mentioned this…but at Echo be sure to take a high clearance, 4 wheel drive vehicle or if using a regular car…buy some chains and snow tires. None of the pulloffs are plowed. Went up last week…over a foot of snow in some pulloffs. Found a more trampled pulloff near the dam. Although no depth to the snow on the ground…it was packed…the parking was on a downhill slant toward the reservoir rather than the road. When I left…it took an hour of fruitless maneuvering and finally 4 pairs of friendly helping hands ( much thanks to them) to get back on the road…it was horrific. Plus the parking was extremely crowded on Sat. The rim of the ice on the shoreline was extremely treacherous…some people mentioned floating their stuff to the hard ice. That should be well frozen by now though. The fishing was slow at that dam spot. I would go shallower…towards the south more…south of the boat launch area. At east canyon only had one trout. Again i was taking a newbie and couldn’t travel too far. But I would suggest getting away from the people.

There are some really nice bows in that lake.. Just have to find them.. I fished the Taylor pull off area and did really well last monday.. Iced 16 bows in about 5 hrs.. If you walk straight across the lake there is also grate fishing.. But be careful there are a few warm springs over there.. Thin ice.. But you can see where they are.. Fish were down in 10-15 ft.. Chartruse seems to be the color.. Good luck & welcome to BFT..

great! thanks for the info. I will probably head up there tomorrow afternoon and see what I can catch. I need to get some more fish smoked and stock up for the next year.
where exactly did you fish? were you straight out from the boat ramp or over by the dam side? I have fished right by the dam and did ok a couple of years ago.
how were the fish looking? did they have the scars on their sides still?
thanks again,
